The project team was tasked with converting a building partially designed for the Chemistry Department into a comprehensive, cohesive instructional and research space for the Biology Department. This complex renovation had the further challenge of being phased to allow occupancy throughout the construction.

An addition to the front of the structure presented an attractive, updated building façade and increased the square footage to 88,000 square feet.

The completed project provided labs conducive to 21^st century instruction, increased energy efficiency of the space, modernized classrooms utilizing Problem Based Learning (PBL), and extended useful life of the structure to allow decades of use for the University.
