CPS Amy Tisencheck was the Program Manager for the Douglas County Adult Detention Facility and Law Enforcement Center, which has received LEED for New Construction certification, making it the first large-scale, new construction adult detention facility and law enforcement center in Georgia to achieve this level of sustainability. The building wasn’t built on LEED requirements, but building the facility on previously developed land while using sustainable strategies such as sun shading, daylighting, reuse of rainwater, and environmentally friendly materials, the design of the building reduce water use by 31 percent and reduces energy by 18 percent. The 1,500-bed detention center is 25 miles west of Atlanta in Douglasville, Georgia.
