Project Description

Newnan Historic Howard Warner Community Center

The goal in renovating the historic Howard Warner Building to serve as a Community Center was to preserve the original beauty of the building, originally constructed in 1935. To accomplish this goal, the original wood floors were refinished and the original front windows were restored. The windows throughout the rest of the façade were replaced but carefully designed to align with the original design. All of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were replaced to provide energy efficiency and upgrade to today’s standards.

This Community Center provides several amenities to Newnan’s citizens, including a warming kitchen, multi-use space, and offices that can be used as a business incubator. Additionally, this center contains the YMCA and a Boys and Girls Club, filled with classrooms, art rooms, and spaces for the community’s youth to congregate. A new gymnasium was built adjacent to the center for basketball, fitness, and event rentals.
